Today is the 100th birthday of HMV, the long-running music shop. Furthermore, the once pioneering music store established its first location on July 20, 1921, and is still going in business today, despite the digital music industry’s efforts to derail it.
The music shop still maintains several locations around the UK, and while there is still a place for it given the popularity of vinyl, the company’s future is questionable. Its business model is more suited to the industry of the past.
