‘Brennan Bill’ Gets Rejected By The Government
The ‘Brennan Bill’, which would have likely removed income from labels, failed to pass through the UK Government.
Kevin Brennan introduced the new law that allowed artists to receive direct payments from streaming sites, circumventing labels. Many labels were not pleased, even though many artists thought it was the proper thing to do.
Although there are good considerations on both sides, the government has decided to reject the law, despite the fact that some of the world’s most famous musicians favour it.
